Runners of all ages are being encouraged to take part in this year’s charity Family Fun Run in Abington Park on Sunday 22 August in aid of Help for Heroes.

Anyone can join the fun run, whether they run, walk, skip or hop their way around the 3km circuit.

Each year, the annual family fun run has raised thousands of pounds for good causes and the chosen charity for 2010 for the second year running is Help for Heroes.

Last year over 250 runners of all ages and levels of fitness joined in, raising almost £7,000.

Registration for this year’s run, which costs adults £6 to enter, children aged 4 to 16 £4 (under 4s are free), is now open. Family saver tickets for two adults and up to three children cost £18.

Chris Rockall, Northampton Borough Council’s sports development officer, is keen to get as many runners as last year, if not more. He said: “This is a lot of fun for all the family and we have some great entrants so far this year, including a group of young gymnasts who will be running the course three-legged! There’s always a great atmosphere and all the money raised goes to a really good cause, so I hope this year’s turnout will be better than ever.”
