Scott Collins, Parliamentary spokesman for South Northants lIberal Democrats, and Jane Hollis, Chair of the South Northants party, were amongst 50 members from across the East Midlands to meet Nick Clegg in a private meeting in Oadby.

The meeting, part of a regular schedule of meeting across Britain where the Deputy Prime Minister, Nick Clegg, aims to meet with local members to discuss a variety of issues both national and local which are affecting local people.

Not unsurprisingly key subjects on the agenda included the recent riots and police cuts but also the national financial situation in general.

During a question and answer session the deputy prime minister congratulated the South Northants Party on its recent successes both last year and the superb results this May that bucked much of the national trend and put two new Liberal Democrat councillors on South Northants Council.

Commenting afterwards Scott Collins said “Nicks speech was very good and the straight forward and honest way he answered the many questions was good to see. Sometimes its far to easy to side step a question but Nick was clear about where he felt the country and the party were heading over the next few years”.
